Large Chinese Warring States Impressed Pottery Tripod Jar (475 - 221 BC) This rare and interesting pottery vessel was made during the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC). It is particularly heavily-potted. There are two think loop handles on opposing sides of the shoulder and the almost spherical body stands on three very sturdy legs. Much of the surface has been decorated with cord impressions. In places on both the inner and outer surface are marks left by ancient root/plant growths during its long burial.
